Rabbit Hole lot for Sims 2

My Sims 2 neighborhood is populated with cartoon characters that I like, two of which are Buster and Babs Bunny from Tiny Toon Adventures.

I tend to pair off characters in their own lots, and I wanted to try something new for theirs by making something underground that would look like a rabbit hole. Of course, I discovered that it's impossible to build something truly underground with Sims 2, so I had to use my imagination a bit, but I think I like the way it turned out. The furnature is still a little sparse, but I haven't played the lot much yet.

These pictures were all taken at night, since the darkness better simulates everything being underground. The walls and floors are meant to look like bare dirt, each room is seperate with large spaces between them, as if they were all hollowed out of the ground, and everything is connected by a series of tunnels that slope up and down at the same rate as stairways. I also made full use of elevation, the entry starting at ground level, and the pool being at the very bottom limit of what the game would allow me to build.

With the roofs open.

From above the lot looks like a huge open pit mine and takes some imagination to make it attractive, remembering that all this is supposed to be dug out under a large, otherwise nondescript field. I wanted to build rooms on top of other rooms to make it truly 3 dimensional, but I couldn't figure out how, and it would have involved using pillars, making things a lot uglier than they already are. I learned a few things building another lot, however, and may try it later, but for now I'm satisfied.

Because things are so deep, and there are often large walls next to very low areas, the camera can be a major pain, since the game really isn't designed with such a lot in mind. (Stupid camera!) Originally the lot was completely level except for the dug out areas, but I quickly learned that this was not going to work, since it's nearly impossible to view what's going on in such deep holes and trenches. Instead, I cut away most of the walls, matching their slope to the slope of the tunnels. This solved most of the camera issues, but it can still be a pain.

Moving around the lot counterclockwise.

Since ladders aren't possible, the main entrance slopes down to the entry room, which is exactly 2 levels below ground to give it one whole level of dirt overhead.

Connected off the main entry is the first bathroom.

Oops. Buster's using it at the moment.

Three tunnels lead down from the main entry. To the east, (looking left while standing on the sidewalk and facing the lot,) are the main bedrooms,

You can see the main entry room at the very top, and the pathway to the bedrooms leading down to the right. There are 4 bedrooms, (unfurnished), another bathroom on the far right, and the master bedroom with master bath on the left, just to the right of the pool.

Here's another view to help show elevation, with the master bedroom just above center.

And another view from below.

The middle tunnel from the main entry leads directly down to the pool, which is supposed to look like it's built in a large natural rock cavern.

You can see the path to the pool sloping down on the right in this picture, with the bedrooms to the right of that.

The left path goes down one level to the music room, and then veers left and down to the kitchen and recreation areas.

Here's the path leading down to the pool from the main entry. (The path on the left.)

There wasn't enough room to let it run straight down the whole way, so I had to make it zig-zag down the cliff, which is fine with me becuase I like the look.

The path on the right in that last picture goes up a couple levels and leads to a hot tub that overlooks the pool through some "natural" stalagmites, and to a small rec room just beyond that.

After that, the path continues around to connect to the hallway for the bedrooms.

And finally, the pool itself.

The west tunnel from the main entry room goes down to the music room, as I said, and then to the kitchen/rec areas. Here you can see the slope of the path to give an idea of elevation. The main entry is just below the cars, the music room is on the right, and the kitchen and dining rooms are on the bottom left.

An elevation shot of the kitchen and dining rooms.

The kitchen.

The dining room, with another bathroom off to the left.

Uh, oh. Babs doesn't look too happy about Billy Bunny's diaper.

Below the kitchen is the rec room, and a few extra bedrooms.

The rec room with it's bathroom.

And the extra rooms.

And that's all, folks!
