Have you ever had a Rescue Ranger moment? You know? One of those times out in public when the Rescue Rangers happen to come up unexpectedly? Have you ever been surprised to discover that an otherwise complete stranger is also a Rescue Ranger fan? Or maybe you've had an opportunity to demonstrate your Rangerity by exposing people to the Rescue Rangers which had positive results? If so, then this is the place to record the event and share it with other fans.
Just fill out the simple form with the pertinent information and a brief summary of the event, and I'll add it to the list with the proper credit in chronological order of the occurrences. Please limit your experiences to things that happened in real life, not something that happened online. And as always, I reserve the right to edit or deny each entry if I deem it vulgar or otherwise inappropriate, so keep things clean.
Our English teacher was asking us to list what groups we were members of that we thought would be unique to us among the people in the room, so I naturally said Rangerphile. No one really seemed to have any idea what that was, but someone did approach me later to casually ask, "That was that show with the chipmunks, right?" I told him yes, and he then asked, "What was the name of that little girl? Daphne?" Looking back now, I'm pretty sure he was thinking of those other chipmunks, but at the time I could only assume he meant Gadget, so I corrected him, to which he replied, "Oh! I was way off!"
I got to show another Rescue Ranger clip in my Engineering class. We'd been watching "October Sky", in which a group of kids back in the time of Sputnik start building rockets, at first with only limited success. I thought this would be the perfect time to show a clip from "Out To Launch", since Gadget builds her own rocket in that episode. We got to see the construction process, as well as the launching with dynamite which the teacher found amusing. Unfortunately, since everyone knew it was going to be a movie day, very few people actually showed up so there were probably only about 5 people that saw it besides myself.
My Engineering class wasn't in much of a learning mood that day, so the teacher let us goof around a bit. One of the other students showed us a funny website, so I decided this would be the perfect time to play a Rescue Ranger clip I'd picked out on a video tape that I had with me. Since it is an engineering class, I have a picture of Gadget on my notebook, but I also wanted to show Gadget to everyone from the cartoon. I had two clips prepared, but we only got to watch one. It was the scene from "Catteries Not Included" where they've just gotten the case and are about to pile into the Rangerplane when Monty gets apprehensive. Gadget had just been working on the plane, so Monty asks,
"You sure you're finished?"
"Sure I'm sure."
"Not like the last time?"
"Oh, Monty! How many times do you think the wings can fall off a plane?"
"I don't know. You tell me."
It was quite appropriate since the day before, and the rest of that day, we watched a documentary from the History channel about great engineering disasters. Not only that, but there's an older guy in the class that actually designs and builds airplanes. I think everyone liked it, even if it was short, and I got to talk a little to the teacher after class and told him about some of Gadget's other inventions. He thought it was a hoot that she once built a space ship out of a garbage can and launched it with dynamite. A few days later I did manage to show the teacher my second clip, from "Bearing Up Baby" when she saves the R.V. from going over the cliff with some creative plumbing. He liked that, too.
