I was a Halloween Rescue Ranger

For Halloween of 1998 I dressed up as Chip to go to work at my job at a local grocery store. Everyone was allowed to dress up every Halloween at work, and this was the first time I'd done so. It was also the first time I'd attempted to dress as one of the Rangers, and I hope I managed to pull it off fairly well.

Below you will find two pictures of me dressed as Chip that I hope you will enjoy. I wish there had been time for more, but unfortunately the costume was finished late and I was in danger of being late to work. The ears sewn on to the hat were only finished about a half hour before I left.

I borrowed the bomber jacket from a friend I knew at work, since there wasn't any way I was going to be able to get one of my own. The hat was a cheap felt hat I bought at a costume shop for a couple dollars. After sewing on some purple ribbon around the hat, I then fashioned the ears out of light and dark brown felt and sewed them on to the brim. Getting the right size and shape to the ears was difficult, and I'm afraid I still couldn't get it quite right before I had to leave. I probably could have done better if I'd had more time, but they ended up looking more like mouse ears, rather than chipmunk ears, if you ask me. The tail in the back was made from the same kind of felt I cut the ears out of, but using white and black instead of browns, and looked much better, I think. I wore a light brown fluffy sweater to simulate the light colored fur on Chip's front, and dark brown courduroy pants for the rest of his fur. Fortunately the jacket hid my back, so the fact that the sweater wrapped all the way around was irrelavent.

The people at work were quite impressed with my costume, even if most of them hadn't a clue who I was supposed to be unless I told them. The makeup was the most annoying part of the whole thing, rubbing off on anything that touched it. Still, it all worked pretty well, I had fun doing it, and I hope you've had fun seeing it.
